A rampaging mech
I was inspired by Marco Plouffe and his hard surface design.
Mech and hard surface modeling have caused more trouble for me in the design phase, in this project, I tried to do more research on the anatomy of a mech to machines and joint mechanism to create a modern-looking and interesting robot. My main discovery was the way modern car manufacture pipelines reduce the weight of the car frame.
The topology has proven more trouble than I thought. My first intended method was to zremesh with polygroups and creases, however, with more complicated pieces and negative spaces I put on the mech, I decided to manually retopologize each part individually. This allowed me to have more control over the topology and create the proper edge flow for the complex parts like the horns or the ribcages.
